Parisa Motevasselzadeh

Parisa defines herself as a storyteller. First and foremost a ceramicist, she also incorporates fabric, printing, drawing and writing, jewellery and wood — and most often, turquoise glaze. She draws from local traditions to complete her vision.

She takes a therapeutic approach, working with her hands together with psychotherapy to not only to recall and express personal pain but also to raise fundamental questions: why should we remember, how should we remember, and what should we remember? Drawing on social sciences, she seeks to express her concerns through a documentary and artistic lens using functional pieces — with the hope that the very women who inspired her will one day themselves touch and remember.
